VIDEO BOOK REVIEW CONTEST 2023/2024








Description of the activity

The Video Book review contest is organized by the English Bilingual section to celebrate Book Day on April 23rd. The students have to record themselves reviewing a book they have already read. They will have to record a 4-5 minute video analyzing the following elements of the book:

  • Title of the book and why they chose it.
  • Plot summary ( less than a minute).
  • Description of characters.
  • Personal opinion.
  • Cultural aspects, important values, or any other relevant facts they have learnt about.
  • At least 3 words or expressions they think are relevant or interesting, explaining why. - Mention some reasons to recommend the book.

The evaluation criteria to award the prizes is based on the following points:

  • English skills: pronunciation, intonation, fluency and grammar & vocabulary used to express the content.Remember not to read the audio script.
  • Audio/video quality and creativity will also be considered.

Objectives:
  • Reinforcing reading and oral skills.
  • Boosting vocabulary acquisition and interiorization of grammatical structures.
  • Reading promotion.
  • Promoting creativity.

Methodology:
  • The students choose a book to read and then, after reading it, they have to record the video following the given structure.
  • The teacher will show examples of video book reviews from other years, as well as explaining all the different points they have to cover.
  • If there are any students who don’t know how to record or upload the video on Classroom, the teacher will give them the necessary explanations to complete the task, through tutorials or personal guidance.
  • All the videos will be corrected with a specific rubric developed for the task by all the members of the English Bilingual Section.To celebrate Book Day on April 23rd, the English Bilingual section is holding a reading contest in which you have to record yourself reviewing a book you’ve read in English. There will be 6 categories, one per level.
